The Union Pacific Railway runs right through the city, providing industrial sites with rail service and air transit is available from Phoenix-Goodyear Airport and Sky Harbor Airport. A large percentage of the homes in Tolleson were constructed after 2002. There are no condos or town homes in Tolleson, only single family homes. There have been large numbers of bank foreclosures and short sales, dragging down prices over the past few years, with Tolleson as no exception. Investors, both local and foreign, are buying up large numbers of the homes, doing repairs and then often “flipping them or leasing them out. Total numbers of “active” listings is way down from 12 months ago and this should help stabilize prices and cause the values to go up, but, there is still great opportunity to pick up a home in Tolleson, AZ for well under replacement cost or what they sold for new. Resale homes in “Country Place” at the end of July, 2012 are listed at an average of $71.00/sq ft, but there are also homes priced at $55-$65/sq ft. The builders are beginning again, with D.R. Horton and Beazer Homes constructing new homes in Country Place and D.R. Horton is building in Hurley Ranch
